Winn ambassadors become mentors

More than seven U.S. Army Medical Department Activity-Fort Stewart, Winn Army Community Hospital Soldiers and DA Civilian Ambassadors signed up for the 2017-2018 Button Gwinnett MindShift Mentorship Program late last year to help at-risk students strive for excellence; while realizing their academic potential. BGE's MindShift team piloted the program and organized to help these students foster a positive self-identity through social, emotional learning.

Winn Stops-the-Bleed

In 2017 there were more than 60 school-related shootings nationwide. With an uptick in trauma violence not only in the nation, but particularly in the school system, U. S. Army Medical Department Activity-Fort Stewart, Winn Army Community Hospital Emergency Department soldiers and staff partnered with Liberty Regional Medical Center, Memorial Health University Medical Center and the Department of Homeland Security to instruct teachers, faculty, coaches and staff with the Liberty County School System during a Stop the Bleed training class Jan. 2 at the LCSS board of education.

Marne Tax Center offers free service

The tax filing season is upon us. Did you know that there are free tax preparation services available at both Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield? If you are an active duty Service Members, or Retired from active duty, or are a Family Member of an active duty Soldier or a retiree, you are entitled to receive this free service.

Military, Community remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division supported local communities in mid-January to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - participating in ceremonies throughout the area, on Fort Stewart and at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

Fort Stewart transformed into a Winter Wonderland

A rare event occurred in Southeast Georgia as the area received two to four inches of snow during a Winter Storm that affected the region Jan. 3-4. The storm caused Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield to reduce operations due to 'Snow Days.' Children rejoiced, parents smiled and Soldiers were awestruck and the community was made pictureque. Photos include Warriors Walk and displays in front of the 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters building on Fort Stewart.

Winn welcomes first baby of 2018

The Winn Army Community Hospital leadership, doctors, nurses and staff welcomes the first baby of the 2018 New Year, Jan. 1. Baby Lyla, a girl, was born at 3:21 a.m., weighing in at 6lbs. 12oz., and 19.5 inches long. Her parents, Destiny and Sgt. Adam Martin, 197th Military Police Detachment, Fort Stewart, are happy to have their bundle of joy join their growing Family. Sgt. Martin said he cried tears of joy when he caught sight of Lyla. Winn recognized as best of best in low back treatment

Members of the multidisciplinary process improvement team from U.S. Army Medical Department Activity – Fort Stewart, Winn Army Community Hospital were recognized with the Department of Defense Advancement Towards High Reliability in Healthcare Award for the collaborative development and implementation of standardized treatment procedures for lower back musculoskeletal pain during the AMSUS Banquet in Washington D.C., Nov. 30.

Soldiers and Families at Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield and deployed in Afghanistan, took time to give thanks and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal Nov. 21 and 23. Dining facilities were decorated for the occasion, and leaders helped serve the Thanksgiving meal.

Red Cross starts greeter program

The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to join our greeter program at Winn Army Community Hospital! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can provide a welcoming environment as patients come into the hospital. Greeters will be assisting patients directly, guiding the patients where they need to go, and really helping the hospital by providing a pleasant experience as patients come in and out.
